Sample Curriculum & Schedule

The curriculum and rotations of the practicum phase will be tailored to meet the goals and to prepare residents who are competent to provide care, assess health, design community intervention studies, and conduct community-based research, with an added emphasis on women's health. These competencies will be achieved by designing individual practicum for each resident based on his or her educational goals and future aspirations. The program will set a minimum number of required rotations (public health agencies and community-based rotations) and provide flexibility to meet the needs of individual residents while ensuring that the attention to care and research in underserved populations is substantially increased. Residents will attend preventive medicine lecture series, the monthly journal club, seminars, and research meetings. Residents will be continuously assessed in the preventive medicine competencies as proposed by ACGME and ACPM.
