Teaching Conferences
Griffin Hospital offers a variety of conferences during the year. Below is a sample list of the conferences that occur on a regular basis.
- Critical Care Conference - Monthly conference addressing all topics of critical care medicine
- Ambulatory Care Conference - Weekly conference addressing pertinent outpatient management issues and following the extensive ambulatory curriculum articles
- Yale GI Conference - Weekly multidisciplinary conference with visiting Yale GI Professors, pathologists and radiologists
- Grand Rounds - Weekly conference with guest lecturers focusing on topics and cases of special interest and importance
- Morbidity and Mortality - Monthly conference reviewing previous month's morbidity/mortality cases
- Pathology Conference - Monthly conference reviewing recent gross and histological cases
- Echo & Cardiac Catheterization Conference - Alternative monthly conference reviewing interesting cases and fundamentals of echocardiography and cardiac catheterization by staff cardiologists
- Subspecialty Conference - Monthly didactic teaching conference in neurology, nephrology, dermatology, endocrinology, pulmonary, rheumatology and infectious disease
- Tumor Board - A monthly multidisciplinary conference with oncologists and surgical staff
- Journal Club - Monthly conference organized by the chief resident on recent journal articles in the field of internal medicine and preventive medicine/public health
- Medical Jeopardy - Monthly conference organized by a senior resident and follows the format of the ACP jeopardy. Participants include the inpatient housestaff and faculty teams.
- Psychosocial Medicine/Ethics - Monthly conferences addressing all areas of psychosocial medicine and ethics
- Emergency Medicine - Monthly conference held where faculty credentialed in emergency medicine present didactic patient based lectures with a focus on the internist
- Preventive Medicine Lecture - The preventive medicine lecture addresses topics of general interest, such as disease-specific screening strategies, basic epidemiology and general preventive medicine, etc.
- Preventive Medicine Seminar - The seminar is a tool in peer teaching. PGY-3 and PGY-4 residents choose topics and prepare presentations on these topics.
- Preventive Medicine Research Conference - Monthly conference covering all topics from how to get research ideas to submitting a manuscript
