Department faculty and residents take active part in disease prevention and health promotion activities at Griffin Hospital and various other health and human service agencies across the nation. As a sole program in General Preventive Medicine in Connecticut, our department is actively engaged in developing and coordinating health promotion/disease prevention (HP/DP) programs in the Griffin Hospital primary service area. The Department maintains close relationships with the local and state health department. Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center is funded by the Center for Disease control and prevention and this center is engaged in multiple research studies. The Department of Preventive Medicine has developed a wide range of affiliations with private and public community medicine and public health organizations. These partnerships provide a richness and depth to the resident training experience, creating an outstanding community hospital-based education.
